SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

From Penthouse Apartment in the day to 3 bedroom Presidential Suite at night

And so bring in our second fundamental back to basics, and common-sense check

Not only does the EkoKat do away with utterly pointless and space wasting side-decks, and we will happily ague that one away until the cows come home, we also do away with hull bedrooms for many a good reason.

The full beam aspect is followed all the way from the widest part of the hulls, past the salon (apartment in our case) up to the flybridge as evidenced above. However 'traditional' power catamarans, in an attempt to increase the size and appeal of their hull bedrooms by turning the beds sideways. 'steal' valuable space from within the salon above and push furniture inwards towards the middle as our plans and comparisons will show. You need to look at that, and really take note, as this becomes very very serious point, and the one we speak of when we say often things that lack in common sense and efficiency, remain blatantly obvious to people for such long periods of time they simply remain unchanged.

By not having hull bedrooms at all, this robbing of daytime and actively used valuable space vanishes into thing air, and Ekokat is able to present a simply astonishing and extravagant almost 8m wide apartment.

And so we now start to bring in subjects such as virtual reality and how video games only render what you need to see when you actually look at them. So if you do not go down there into the hull, the bedrooms need not be there at all, and they need not take chunks out of the salon above.

So where are the bedrooms then we hear you ask! Just a moment we will get to that but first ...

mmexport1673555267250-1.jpg

THINK ... during your day time adventures, how often do you go down into the hulls and the confined spaces of catamaran bedrooms? Why would you want to? Doesn't the sound of a 62sqm open plan luxury penthouse apartment sound more fun and sociable to you with 3 separate lounge TV areas, panoramic 360 vision, access to everything you want from the galley, as well as instant access to real fresh air through 4m opening sliding glass doors to the cockpit ~ all transformable at the press of a button to a 62sqm 3 private bedroom presidential suite at night?

mmexport1673612018263.jpg
mmexport1673555332690.jpg

So if there was a way with the help of solar powered electronic moving walls to cleverly turn 61sqm of daytime penthouse luxury apartment into a 3 bedroomed 61sqm presidential suite, with 5 star hotel quality king sized beds, and huge volumes of space to move around in, 55' televisions with instant 'above waterline' level access to the gallery and out onto the cockpit to gaze at the stars, isn't that something to think very seriously about?

Not to mention it is a fact that 70% of people experience motion sickness on boats, and all yacht owners know very well what happens when someone gets sea sick and how it completely ruins the day (and night) and yachting excursion experience altogether ... for everyone, not just the poor soul hanging over the head constantly. So where is the place not to sleep for those that suffer from this ill fated condition? Down in the hulls at waterline level - FACT.

... and we are sorry but there seems simply no justification or reason to want to sleep down in the hulls in what can never be a large enough bedroom period. From the animations and images on this page if you are not quickly convinced and see what has been staring everyone in the face, yet been ignored, then something isn't quite right. All it has taken is come clever thinking and state of the art technology and the right furniture and fit put and a dual purpose 61sqm space is created. Don't worry we have though of every argument and the conclusion from all has been a unanimous scratching of the forehead and almost embarrassment from others.

It's not difficult to grasp the concept, but delve deeper and see for yourself. Abolishing hull bedrooms and side decks should have been done years ago - they are simple things that yacht brands have just presumed they need as they have always been there. Quite frankly it's ridiculous. Look out for yacht walk-through videos explaining how boat builders have made the side decks wider for safety reasons, and at the same time introduce stairways from the flybridge to the bow and oversized front doors from the salon to foredeck - make your mind up and don you really need both?
